Frequently Asked Questions

This page answers common questions about the goat breeder directory: how many breeders are listed (176), which sources the data comes from, how to claim or add a listing, how often it updates, and which states have the most breeders.

How many goat breeders are listed?

The directory lists 176 listed goat breeders across 44 US states and 17 breeds, as of 2026-07-18. Every listing is transcribed from a public directory page (breed association, registry, or trade publication) and cites its source.

Where does this data come from?

Listings come from public directory pages (breed association, registry, or trade publication): Goat Rancher Magazine breeder directory, Iowa Dairy Goat Association, Minnesota Boer Goat Association, Myotonic Goat Registry, Ohio Dairy Goat Association, and Sierra Pacific Pygmy Goat Association. Each row links to the exact page it was transcribed from.

How do I get listed or claim my listing?

Use the Claim a listing page. In version 1 the form is a preview and submissions are not yet accepted; it is the planned path to verify a farm and add contact details.

How often is this updated?

The dataset is a 2026-07-18 snapshot. The plan is a quarterly re-fetch of the source pages with a manual review queue — changes are never auto-published.

Which states have the most breeders?

In this snapshot, Ohio (43), Iowa (33), and Minnesota (21) lead the directory. Counts reflect the listings gathered so far, not every breeder in each state.

Do you publish phone numbers or names?

Version 1 shows the source listing name, city, state, breeds, website, and source. It publishes no phone numbers or emails. The claim form is a preview and cannot accept submissions yet.
